Counts the number of lines of the various kinds of source code and data formats parsed by OpenRewrite. Comments are not included in line counts. This recipe emits its results as two data tables, making no changes to any source file. One data table is per-file, the other is per-repository.

Usage

Run this recipe

This recipe has no required configuration options. Users of Moderne can run it via the Moderne CLI.

You will need to have configured the Moderne CLI on your machine before you can run the following command.

shell
mod run . --recipe LanguageComposition

If the recipe is not available locally, then you can install it using:

mod config recipes jar install org.openrewrite.recipe:rewrite-all:1.26.2

A list of folders and the language composition and line counts of their contents.

Folder pathThe path to the folder relative to repository root.
LanguageLanguage of the source file.

Per-file language composition report

A list of individual files and their language composition.

ColumnDescription
Source pathThe path to the source file.
LanguageThe language of the source file.
LST typeThe Lossless Semantic Tree type of this source file.
Lines of textThe number of lines of text in the source file. No language-specific knowledge to skip comments, blank lines, or any other non-code line.
Has parse failuresTrue if the file failed to parse, otherwise false.

Source path before the runThe source path of the file before the run. null when a source file was created during the run.
Source path after the runA recipe may modify the source path. This is the path after the run. null when a source file was deleted during the run.
Parent of the recipe that made changesIn a hierarchical recipe, the parent of the recipe that made a change. Empty if this is the root of a hierarchy or if the recipe is not hierarchical at all.
